Mouse button toggle?
Mouse button toggle?
With TIR3, you can enable the "toggle" on the right mouse hotkey under the hotkey tab in the TrackIR software. This keeps the right mouse key active when you press the hotkey until you press it again.
Is there a similar capability with the TIR4 software?

Re: Mouse button toggle?
the version 4 software only has hotkeys for : pause, precision, and center.
Version 4 software doesn't support cursor control.
Rather than support an inferior cursor control sysem for TrackIR, a product which is really all about 3-D view control, we're focusing on cursor control for SmartNAV (which can also run TracKIR software, if you want to do both tasks).
This will help to keep first time users from misusing the system. (A major problem in the previous software was people not bothering to enter Enhanced mode. and Reviewers who decide to try it out in some unsupported game, and then reported that the system has a ways to go.)
TrackIR is all about offering a precise cutting edge immersion input for specific cool games (it's not about offering a sloppy mouse replacement for just any game).
basically, the trackir is meant to compliment your mouse keyboard and joystick inputs, not replace them.
...ok, sorry to rant. I've been writing FAQ entries all night.

Re: Mouse button toggle?
Huh? AFAIK it has been stated that the missing mouse-mode would be put back in in a later revision! Now his posting above doesn't seem to indicate that it will be added back in but rather remain left out. So what now?
Personally, I'd be really upset if you should really take away features that have been there when I bought my unit, no matter how you argue! I still need the mouse-mode for those games that feature mouse-look but no TIR-support!
So, what's up now? Will the missing mouse-mode be added back to the software or not? I'm really confused... and scared!

I'm really confused... and scared!Don why dont you just run both versions of the softwear like I do, there is no need to uninstall version 3.12 as both versions of the softwear can live on the same system, however you can not run both versions at the same time though, but I cant see that you would want too do that anyway. So for mouse mode just fire up v3.12 and use that, for enhanced games and Vector use version 4.20 and thats it promblem fixed I would think.

Re: Mouse button toggle?
Running 2 versions of one and the same software might give you problems with other software.
I agree with the fact that no mouse support is a BIG ommission in version 4.0 of the software and yes Naturalpoint developers did make the promise that it would be put in the new software, but that it was left out because the software wouldn't be ready in time to be released.
I also find the answer given very unprofessional and also given in a very unprofessional manner on a public forum. If i would have been his manager he could pay me a visit in my office

Re: Mouse button toggle?
While beta testing I ran both versions of the softwear with no promblems at all, im also still running both versions now and use both version all the time at diffrent times with no promblems at all.
It takes less than 1 min to switch between the version I want to use when playing diffrent games.
I agree though that mouse support included in v4 softwear would be nice and would make life simple.

Re: Mouse button toggle?
I'm using a dual install of both versions, too. No problems so far, but it in fact would be nice(r) to see the old features back in the new software.
Re: Mouse button toggle?
I would also strongly second the recommendation to support mouse control by TrackIR in TrackIR v4 and beyond.
Why?
(1) I just bought vector expansion and it is a huge step up! The separation of translational from rotational motion really improves gaze control. This is the level of control I'd hoped to get by buying a TrackIR 3 Pro in the first place. Using this refined 2D information (gaze minus the translational "noise") would greatly improve mouse cursor control.
(2) Many applications I want to use only support the mouse (e.g. Far Cry).
(3) Something is better than nothing. I bought the TrackIR expecting that I could also get pointer control. Now this feature has been removed. I do not want to be "upsold" to a SmartNav for this purpose (yes, you can do this without Vector Expansion using v3 software but it is inferior). Heck, I might've even bought the SmartNav *if I'd known about this earlier*.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Mouse button toggle?
It is planned that we add mouse emulation to our version 4 software.
