Number of cameras

Post by Deepak »

Hi there,

Well i went through the sdk u have provided and it reallly looks cool work.I would like to buy the optitracker but would like to ask some queries befoe tha.
I want to track the motion in a 2.60 m horizontal and 2.3 m vertical range. The optitracker should be placed at a distance of 1.8 m and would like to track only one marker.I would like to know how many cameras do i need to track ths kind of motion.Do you provide a wider field of view then 60 degrees?

Thanks for your support

Hello:

If you are tracking only a single target in the volume you describe you should be able to easily array cameras to cover the desired FOV.

The sensor in the camera is only 1/7", so even a very wide FOV lens will only have a small imaging area, like the 2.1mm Wide FOV lens we offer. I would suggest arraying multiple cameras with the standard lens as it matches the illumination angle of the IR LED ring, if that will be used. The standard lens has a FOV of about 35 degrees horizontal.

We recently upgraded the OptiTrack SDK so you can now use our standard TrackIR cameras with it. This might be a more inexpensive way to array multiple cameras for your application.
