No zones anymore?
Greetings aces
I've recently started playing WW2 Online again and tried to get TrackIR to work. Since the sim does not even support mouse-view I was thinking of other possibilities.
- virtual joystick
Would work if WW2O would allow slewable view inside of the cockpit - which it does not - only in the 3rd person view (offline training)
- zones
I remember (maybe I am wrong there) that somewhen back it was possible to set "zones" wherein TrackIR emulated key-presses. Like 20 degrees to the right results in "6(numpad)" - 20 degrees up = "8 (numpad) - in order to control snap views (a la hatswitch) with your TrackIR. I couldn't find anything similar in the 3.xx software.
Any word on this? Did someone write a util which allows such function? Would be great since I really cannot go back to hats...

Official keymapping died ages ago . There is a way to get your TiR acting as a joystick or a basic 4 key mapper tho. Check this thread out.

I wonder why NP stopped the official key-mapper... ???

Re: No zones anymore?
Well, I got it working *somehow*... but not really enjoyable. I can now pan left, right, up & down. So that's N,E,W, up & down (plus combination of x + y axis) but what I at least expected was N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW,N. That would take a differented axis setup I guess: like 0-10% = N * 10-20% = NE * 20-30% = E - plus the same for the other axis. That would at least bring 8-way-coolie-hat-functionability.
Guess I have to wait for mouselook in WW2O.

It was killed off the board because they decided that that was not the direction they wanted to go with the TrackIR (of which I fully agree with them).
They are a very small company and could not allocate the resources for the keymapper and the things they were wanting to do.

Show me a link to their driver archive. No cheating and requesting from somebody on these boards as not everybody uses them. When you do find them, if you want them, good luck in getting the mapper to do what you want.

Those things are all perfectly possible if the game developers add the support into thier games to allow it.
These things are all perfectly possible. It all depends on the game devs.
And, as I said before, a mapper is not in the direction that NP wants to go. Not only that, but each revision of their software is released to fix issues. Right now, you can download 3.03 or 2.11. Thats it.
I am sure one MAIN reason for this is so that when pople call tech support, they will be asking about current SUPPORTED drivers and not those outdated by well over a year.
Besides, the mapper never worked correctly anyway.... so regardless of your driver version, it will not work.

@Charlie
I have no problem with Naturalpoint deciding to drop keymapping, it's their product. I fully understand it is possible for developers to write code and translate its data into whatever input they desire. Because of a disability I wrote my own simple mapper with zones for personal use using the old SDK a couple of years ago. That never really worked either because of a bug in the SDK causing dropouts in the data coming from the TiR. The mapping worked though . I have requested through email and a forum post for a copy of the latest SDK but no reply....a yes or no would have been nice. If they give me a copy i will leave them in peace for another couple of years

*And much more....really???
Sorry... but i thought it was fair to point out as a few people might have bought it thinking it can still do these things.
