Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
Hi,
I have a strange behaviour of the ilumination diodes which I cannot explain:
- The moment they are switched on and off is not really deterministic. I mean when I go into settings and change the state of the checkbox nothing happenes. Even if I close the TrackIR application and start again.
Is this normal ?
I also played a bit with the SDK and (sample program) there I managed to toggle the Ilumination diodes (LED 'One') BUT only when LED 'Three' was turned on. I actually used the compiled sample program to turn the IR diodes for TrackIR software. Im sure thats not the way you it should be, or is it ?

Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
Are the setting being saved when you turn off the software and restart it.
Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
There is no definite YES or NO as answer here. Sometimes. But even if they are saved it doesnt bring much. Oh and the preview window is also empty 90% of the time (here helps sometimes switching light filtering on and off and playing with light filtering slider). Totally sytrange. I noticed it on two different machines.

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.
Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?
To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.
Windows Help: Print Screen
To do this, follow this procedure:
1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
One more thing. It looks like the screenshots post you send is sort of template (the one citing the step by step guide to making screenshot). One thing that I would suggest you to adding to this template is tutorial about how to post pictures on this forum.
I could imagine that some users have much more difficulty with that then with making a screenshot.

Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
How should the TIR behave when I change the state of the Ilumination diode checkbox ?
When you change the box setting the 4 cwnter LEDs should either turn off or on.
Should the IR diode stay turned on when I close TrackIr software ?
Turning of the TrackIR software should turn off all but the red light at the top of the unit itself.
Generally when we ask for screen shots we have them sent to support@naturalpoint.com

Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
Im sorry for including the images in posts. I misunderstood your answer. I still hope they help somehow. As you can see on one of the screenshots I get no camera image (unless I play with light filter settings - this helps sometimes). Futhermore refering to my last questions the diodes doesnt behave as you have stated in the answer.
1. changing state of the checkbox doesnt change the state of the diodes.
2. Leaving TrackIR software leaves the IR diodes on if they were on when sw was running.
What do you suggest ? Does it have something to do with my unit ?

Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
I would recommend contacting the company where you purchased the device, to get it replaced, as it sounds like it could be a hardware issue.
Re: Strange behaviour of ilumination diodes
Thank you.
I will send back my TIR to my distributor.
