I'm using the mouse emulation tool to simulate head movements in Xwing Alliance through the mouselook option. It works great, except for that it seems the mouse cursor inherets a 'double transform' on the return movement (both in game and in WindowsXP)
ie, if I look right, all's good, but when my head returns to the center, the mouse cursor travels twice as far left. The slider bars in the mouse tool interface return to zero though, but the cursor keeps going.
What's up with that?
Mouse emulation
Re: Mouse emulation
on further examination, it seems the initial movement that is dampened by the dead zone doesn't appear to be affected on the return move. So if I move left from center and back to center 20 times, it will throw off the center alignment in the mouse tool towards the right, incrementally compounded. If I then turned right from center back to center twwenty times, it is back to middle alignment.
Anyways, I still need someone to tell me wht to do about it

Re: Mouse emulation
Hmmm, so this only happen in X-Wing?
Re: Mouse emulation
No, it happens in Windows as well, actually, it's worse in windows.
Let me redefine what I mean, though. I've played around with it a bit more since I posted.
Essentially the mouse cursor does not always return to the center after moving my head. It seems it is related to the dead zone, as if it doesn't take into account the translation lost through dampening of the dead zone on the way back. Also, the faster I turn my head, the worse the centering is thrown off, as if the movement was too fast to accurately assess the cursor travelling distance and compensates on the way back. (is this related to a sensitivity value somewhere?) Furthermore, because the center is thrown off, the dead zone is no longer in the right place (front of the ship) so I need to recenter the cockpit (not the trackIR) after strong moves.
Note, I am not talking about the cursor leaving the sides of the screen, in windows I obviously understand pushing the cursor againt the side of the screen will throw of the translation values. In the game this doesn't apply since there is no 'edge' of the screen as it rotates the cockpit.

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.
Could you send us a copy of the Setupapi.log file?
It should be located in the C:\Windows folder
Could you attach a screen shot of your device manager, and tracking screen?
To make Print Screen work, you must save an image of what's displayed on-screen to the clipboard and then paste it into a document where it can be printed.
Windows Help: Print Screen
To do this, follow this procedure:
1. Maximize the window you'd like to capture.
2. To copy/capture the current window, hold down ALT + Print Scrn at the same time. To capture the entire screen, just press Print Scrn alone.
3. Open a new document in MS Paint, MS Word, MS Photo Editor, or Adobe PhotoShop.
4. Paste the screen shot by holding down CTRL and V at the same time.
5. Save the document as a .JPG or .JPEG file and send it in.

Re: Mouse emulation
I have recently set up my Trackir 4 pro. I'm trying to use the mouse emulater in windows and non supported games, but as soon as the mouse emulator or TrackIR window is not on top the mouse emulator stops dead. I have updated directX to vs 9c but this doesn't help. What could be wrong?

Re: Mouse emulation
In adddition to my previouse post, I have got the Mouse Emulator to work in some games now, but a lot of them do not seem to pick up the TrackIR, but do respond to my standard mouse. My main gripe though is Windows XP doesn't seem to work with the Mouse Emulator, I've got RSI and hoped the trackir would not just allow me to play games again but to operate my PC hands free. If you could let my know how / why I can't get the mouse emulator to work in Windows please help.
Cheers
