Long exit time from FS2004 & desktop freezing

Post by tango77 »

Hello,

Can anyone help ? I have a TrackIR3 with v/e, which works sometimes, but for the most part causes freezing and eventually CTD. On the occassions that it does work, i have 'significant' problems exiting FS. Once back at the desktop everything freezes (including the mouse) for upto 10 minutes before it releases itself to normal.

I have two rigs - both pretty new. One for testing and one is exclusively FS2004. It happens on both computers.

Test Rig

P4 3.0
1.5 Ram
6800GT
WinXP Pro SP1

FS2004 Rig

P4 3.2
2.0 Ram
6800GT Ultra
WinXP Home SP2

I hope this makes sense and would welcome any help to resolve this. Love the kit, but very frustrating. I've never had problems with FS before BTW.

Thanks and Regards

Which version of the TrackIR software are you running?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

When it "locks up", can you pull up the Task Manager, select the processes tab, rigfht click on the TrackIR.exe file listed here, and tell me what the priority is set to?

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for such a speedy response.

Device info: Track IR Pro : 32859

Version 4.1 Build 28

When i can eventually get the task manager to come up (it's just taken about 5 minutes) it's set at 'Normal'

Things don't get going again with Windows until i shut down the Track IR software...It then seems to just release everything back to normal.

Thanks for your help again.

Regards

1 - I would try the alpha software we currently are testing.

http://media.naturalpoint.com/software/ ... .Final.exe

2 - Take a look at your game profiles, located here.

C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles

You shouldn't have one that is larger than 2K.

3 - Make sure your chipset drivers are up-to-date.

Hi Vincent,

Checked no profiles larger than 2kb

Installed new Alpha and.....

Away we go - never been so well behaved !! Have tested in all scenarios that problem was happening and instant success. Straight to desktop without hitch and no freezes in FS2004.

Absolutely delighted !!

Great support.

Best Regards....all the way from North Wales UK

Hi Vince,

Sorry to bother once more...

I've now got FSX deluxe and loaded up the new 4.1.029.alpha.03 sw, which works great thanks, but my old problem is back with FS9

Can you offer any advice again please...

Thanks in advance..

Does this happen with all applications?

Are you ending the "game" software first then the TrackIR software, or the other way around?

Looking at your task manager, right click on the TrackIR. exe file and tell me what the priority is set to?
