Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
Howdy, Thanks for the support to FSX. The only thing that I see right now is that I can't move about the cockpit using the keyboard in FSX with TIR activated. Example, if I want to slide over to the right seat. All the keyboard movements in FS2004 still function when TIR is on. In FSX its like your butt is glewed to the seat. You can look around but you can't move position.
Hope I explained this ok.
Thanks
Dave

Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
Which key functions are required to change seats?
Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
The movements I am speaking of are the standard movement keys. From in the VC...
Ctl+Shft+Enter = move right
Ctl+Shft+backspace = move left
Ctl+backspace = move forward
Ctl+Enter = move back
Shft+Enter = move up
Shft+backspace = move down.
You can still do these moves in FS2004 while using TIR. In FSX I can't. I jerks a little but there is no movement in any of the directions.

Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
To expand... I just tried a test. If I pause TIR then all the key commands work. I can slide around the cabin, move up and down etc. As soon as I unpause, it snaps back to the original location in cockpit. The movements I am speaking of are the standard movement keys. From in the VC...

G'day Dave,
Don't know if you realise yet or not but you can change position around the cockpit by pressing your "a" key.
This scrolls through the many sub settings for each view, internal & external.
When in the cockpit the first press usually sits you in the right hand seat.
Cheers,
Ross

Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
I only used the right seat as an example. The point is that in FSX the keys to move left/right and forward/back do not work with TIR engaged, but did in FS2004.G'day Dave,

Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
This might be a new "feature" of FSX. It could have to do with the way any head tracking unit talks with FSX. Thereby if FSX see for example the TrackIR running, it takes the seat location commands from it, when you pause it FSX then allows the keyboard key commands to work for seat location.
I'm currently doing some research on the subject, and hope to have a definite answer shortly.

G'day Vincent,
I am having a number of issues with the latest drivers which I have posted on the Beta News Group. Have you been in there in the past couple of days?
Cheers,
Ross

Re: Minor issue on FSX retail with new driver
Hi there
This issue prevents one setting up one's viewing position.. which is no small problem.
Bigger problem is that TrackIR disables the hat switch in external view modes... whilst TrackIR is fabulous for use in the cockpit view... it is not an asset in the external view.. Is there a way of getting round this.
Many Thanks
Bully
