TrackIR2 and 4 on the same desktop PC?

Hi--

I have been a long time user of TrackIR2. But a deal came up for a TrackIR4 and I just had to get it. My question is: Can I have both installed at the same time on my PC?

The reason I ask is that mostly I fly on my desktop PC (old CRT monitor). My son uses the laptop. Obviously, the 4 is designed for LCD/laptop screens, but I'd like to be able to have my desktop run both.

Can I install them both or is that bad jou-jou?

Although IL2:FB/AEP/PF etc. doesn't support 6-DOF, I'd still like to try TrackIR4 out with it.

You can have several versions of the TrackIR software installed on the system at the same time. The trick is to rename the install folder of one of the versions, as well as rename the shortcut on the desktop (also remember to point the renamed link to the different folder name).

So what I am understanding you to say is that if I want to have both TrackIR2 and TrackIR4 working on my WinXP box, I should NOT uninstall TrackIR2 anything and simply install the TrackIR4 software into a different folder.

Currently, TrackIR2 is under: C:\Program Files\Naturalpoint\TrackIR

So I am going to run the TrackIR4 installer (downloaded latest version from your website) to something like: C:\Program Files\Naturalpoint\TrackIR4.

I'll set up seperate shortcuts to launch 2 and 4, based on what is plugged in at the time.

Do I understand you correctly?

Actually, I would rename the TrackIR 2 software folder, and link.

Then download, and install the latest TrackIR software for your TrackIR 4.
