TrackIR4 Jerky and slow

Post by AG51Razor »

I have been a very satisfied TrackIR3Pro user for the past year or so, and my wife got me the TrackIR4Pro along with the TrackClipPro for Christmas.

I uninstalled the software, unplugged the equipment, rebooted, and installed the new software, along with the ver 29 update for the TrackClip, then rebooted. The first thing I noticed was a message that I needed a USB 2.0 hub for the equipment to work faster. I don't get that message with my TIR3. I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe MoBo with an AMD FX57 proc and Nvidia 7950 GX2 video card.

I am using the same profile from my TIR3, which was very smooth. First off, the TrackClip does not seem to be working properly, but that is of little concern right now. I removed it from the system, and went back to using my Trackclip on the bill of my hat.

The panning motion is very stuttery, or jerky, if you will, with the TIR4. When I replace it with the TIR3, I don't get the message about the 2.0 USB hub, and it works just like it always has - just beautifully!

What can I do to truoble shoot this problem? I'm sure it's something I have done, a setting I have overlooked, or a defective piece of equipment. Your stuff has always been the BEST! This is my third Naturalpoint product - I missed TIR2.

hi
just for a test try using software version 028 with the hat. i used 029 but had a few problems when looking down so i tested 028 and i think it feels smoother so i stayed with it. altouh that's not an option for you because of the track clip pro, it would be interesting to see if you feel an increased smoothness with 028 as well

Thanks Logge. I did start out with 28, with the same results, then put 29 in to see if the TrackClip Pro made anything better. Saddly, no. One thing I have noticed though, since posting this is, it works much better with the hatclip supplied with TrackIR4, than with the one that came with my TrackIR3 Pro. Still trying to figure out the TrackClip Pro.

1 - have you gone into the different profiles and switched to the TrackClip Pro under each profile?

2 - On your tracking screen, are you getting anything more than 3 green dots?

[color:"red"]No, only for the profile that I am trying to use.

[color:"red"]When using the TrackClip Pro, I am seeing three green dots aligned almost vertically. When I turn my head, the in-game head tilts, or moves closer instead of turning.

Which profile have you changed it in?

Try changing it in the default profile as well, alsdo make sure you have moved the TrackIR unit to the left side of your monitor.

The profile I'm using is the one I have used with TrackIR3. It's a custom profile. I will try the default combat flight profile next.

Can you explain why my computer tells me that I don't have it plugged into a high speed 2.0 USB hub, while it doesn't do so when I'm using the TrackIR3?

Everything is working beautifully with the hatclip supplied with the TrackIR4. My only problem now is with the TrackClip Pro. And yes, I do have the unit offset to the left (as I'm looking at the monitor) when trying to use the TrackClip Pro.

We have seen this error (USB 2.0) on Nvidia chipset motherboards, and is usually resolved with either a chipset update, or a motherboard bios update.

Also, do you have your custom profile set to load exclusively?

Yes, my custom profile loads exclusively. TrackIR is set to run on startup (I hardly ever shut my box down), and it is set to run minimized. I tried the Combat Flight profile that came with the software, and it works fine with the hatclip, as does my custom profile. apparently, the problem was the old style hatclip that I was using from my previous TrackIR3 Pro. Once I switched over to the one that came with the 4Pro, it began to work perfectly. I couldn't be happier with it. It's the TrackClip Pro that I can't seem to get to work. Quite frankly, I don't really see what it will do for me once I do get it figured out and working. It's fairly ..... obtrusive looking, and feeling as far as I'm concerned. I think I'd rather wear a hat. I'm just pleased that my wife went to the trouble to find out about it and bought it for me for Christmas! But I don't understand what it is supposed to do for me as far as my gaming experience is concerned. Will it make the TrackIR work better, faster, smoother?

Regardless of what it does, it's a piece of computer equipment that, as of now, is not working properly, and I can't stand that! I'd like to get it figured out.

Uses active LEDs, so it allows for more precise tracking.

Eliminates the need for a hat

One question, when you are using the TrackClip Pro, are you going into the individual profiles, and switching to the TrackClip pro, from Vector?

Could you send me a screen shot of your tracking window, when you have the TrackClip Pro plugged in?
