TIR4 bug with Aces High
TIR4 bug with Aces High
This has been a nagging little bug since I got TIR4. I was hoping it might be addressed with build 28 -- no, then 29 -- no, now 30 -- still no. So, I'm asking if this might be addressed at some point.
I'm flying along in Aces High and look over at the television to check the score (takes 30 seconds or so). My head turns completely out of TIR4 range. When I turn my head back to the game, my view is looking straight down toward my cockpit seat. I have to recenter to correct it. Not a big deal but it would be nice to get that fixed.
Is this a bug with Aces High or TIR? I don't play any other games so I have nothing to compare to.
Thanks

Re: TIR4 bug with Aces High
When this happens, is there anything else on the tracking screen, within the TrackIR software?
Generally, when the software loses track of the reflective "dots" for an extended time, it should return to the center view, unless it is picking up some other IR source.

Re: TIR4 bug with Aces High
No. Nothing. The room is entirely dark except for the television completely in another room and out of the view of TIR. I should have mentioned that this behavior does not occur every time. I'd say one time out of five or six does it not recenter properly.
Thanks Vincent for the reply.

Hmm, wil add to the developer list...

Thanks Vincent.
Do you suppose that this could actually be an Aces High bug? Should I be addressing them about this?
thanks

Something new to me, Try loading one of the Demo applications located here, http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/04- ... ities.html
and see if the issue occurs in one of them as well....

Hmmm.
Well, I do have FS2004 which is also 6DOF. I'll give that a try and report back.
I have posted this same message on the AH tech support forum in the event that the bug is actually on their side.
Thanks

Hi Vincent,
Got this response to my post on the AH forum. I was sure I was seeing this problem before build 28 but maybe I am mistaken.
Thanks!

It's a glitch in TIR4. I have the same probelem in AH and FSX.
The only thing I could find to get around it was to edit the axis
involved and limit my head-down travel.
This seemed to come into existance with 029 as I recall some
folks saying they reverted to 028 and the problem went away.

Re: TIR4 bug with Aces High
There was a small reported issue, with look-down, with the TrackIR build 29 software. It occured on a limited number of systems, and had to do with the tracking algorithim. We added some new math to the build 30 software, which should resolve the previous issue.
