Problem with my new TrackIR 4

HELLO,

I JUST RECEIVED MY TRACKIR 4 AFTER ONE WEEK ON MY COUNTRY. I TRIED TO INSTALL IT AND IT WAS NEVER RECOGNIZED BY THE COMPUTER. HERE'S THE LIST OF EVENTS THAT HAPPENED LISTED IN THE ORDER THAT THEY WERE ACCOMPLISHED.
1. INSTALLED SOFTWARE
2. PLUGGED TRACKIR4 INTO COMPUTER'S USB PORT - NO RECOGNITION!
3. TRIED SECOND AND THIRD USB PORTS - NO JOY!
4. TRIED REBOOTING COMPUTER WITH TRACKIR4 CONNECTED - NO DIFFERENCE IN STATUS!
5. RECONNECTED MY RUDDER PEDALS AND JOYSTICK AND THEY WORK FINE - THAT LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT MY COMPUTER WAS NOT THE PROBLEM.
6. DID A PHYSICAL INSPECTION OF THE TRACKIR4 AND EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE UNTIL I TOOK A WHIFF AND IT SMELLED LIKE A BURNT WIRE - I DON'T THINK THIS IS NORMAL FOR A BRAND NEW, OUT OF THE BOX TRACKIR4.

ANY HELP WITH THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY APPRECIATED. I JUST FEEL A LITTLE FRUSTRATED THAT IT DOESN'T WORK AND THAT IT MIGHT BE COMPLETELY FAULTY AND WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED IN FOR ANOTHER ONE AFTER WAITING FOR IT ANXIOUSLY THIS PAST WEEK.

Please email me the following info as well as your post here..........

What is the Serial # of the device?
It should be located on the end of the cable, near the USB plug, or on the underside of the device.


Have you tried the device on another system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
