Vista and Lock On Flaming Cliffs
Hi.. Ok I bit the bullet and installed Vista on my new gaming PC... I've had some ups and downs with driver issues, and I'm sorry to say that TIR_4 is one of the downs..
I'm actually only flying just two flight simulators at present, FSX and Lock On Flaming Cliffs..
FSX under Vista works perfectly, but FC's zoom function seems to have been disabled.. I know that it was working before the Vista install... So my questions are as follows... Has anyone else had a similar problem ?? If they have how was it finally resolved or was it??
Does anyone have an answer to enableing the Z (zoom axis) function or is this impossible issue to fix??

Haven't see this issue.
Are the other axes working, i.e. Yaw and Pitch?

Yes The other axsis are working fine...
Re: Vista and Lock On Flaming Cliffs
1 - Have you checked the profile for Lock-on, to make sure that the z-axis is enabled?
2 - Have you tried deleting the ini files?
Some users have reported TrackIR no longer working in Lock-On: Flaming Cliffs, with the latest game patch (1.12a).
To remedy this simply open your LOMAC->Input folder, and delete the TrackIR.ini file; then go to LOMAC->Config folder, and delete the TrackIR.ini file located here as well.

Ok yes... Deleting the ini files that you mentioned was the first thing that I tried, and that didn't help...
This is what I'm seeing... When I click on Lock On Modern Air Combat in the Profiles Screen, a pop up window opens which is called "titles detail"... in this screen all of the boxes are grayed out and the list states "AXSIS SUPPORTED"... then there's a check mark in the first box that's named YAW.
And a check mark in the second box that's named PITCH.
On the second line, the list is ROLL and the box is blank.. second on the list is X the box is blank, Y is next and the box is blank, and then its Z and this box is also blank.... And I can't change this as everything is grayed out..
The only thing that I can do here is to check the box that states that I can add this to my favorite's list..
So is it possible to enable these blank axis and if so how do I get TIR4 to support these missing axis...
If you need further details let me know, and I'll try it.. I just want to get TIR4 to operate as it did before I installed Vista...

Re: Vista and Lock On Flaming Cliffs
The listing for Modern Air Combat, is just the listing for the developer ID, nothing more.
The profile that is listed directly to the right of the name, is the profile that is loading, when you load the game.
By defeault this is Combat Flight, which you then edit in the lower window, on the Profiles Tab.

I don't know whats really wrong but I'm beginning to think that Flaming Cliffs isn't installing properly...
Besides not seeing the Z axis there's a few other small things that I've found....
Anyway, I've tried to install FC several times and keep getting the same small issues..
I was hoping that you might have an answer on how to fix the missing axis but it appears that you don't ...
I have tried everything but nothing seems to work ...

Hmmmm
Have you tried running the application (Lock-on) in XP (SP2) compatibility mode?
Right click on the shortcut, select the compatibility tab, and select the option for compatibility mode.

Re: Vista and Lock On Flaming Cliffs
I just wanted to say thanks for your support... Even though it didn't solve the issue I appreciate your effort ...
I did finally fix this problem by reinstalling everything over again, only this time I turned the administrator option off at the very beginning, I mean from Lock On 1.0 all the way thru to completion of Flaming Cliffs.. and then I rebooted before resuming the administrator option.. The problem was that one of the patches didn't install and I realised this by (one) The Z axis wasn't available
And (two) the padlock view for F4 was showing the rear of the aircraft view rather the seeing the tail section looking out of the rear of the cockpit as was changed in Patch 1.2 ??
Anyway things are as they should be now, so thank you for taking the time to help me trouble shoot this problem...
