Hiccups at 9 and 3 o'clock with work-around

Post by zinja »

In FSX, when I look at about my 9 o'clock or anywhere around that perimeter, the view hangs for about 1 or 2 seconds and then resumes.

I know it's not a sensor issue because I can fix it...temporarily. All I have to do is alt-tab into windowed mode, open TrackIR, highlight the profile I'm using, and click edit. I can then close trackIR to the tray, and alt-tab back into FSX. For whatever reason, this unlocks the hang-ups and it's as smooth as Chester Cheetah for the rest of the flight.

Any idea why this is happening? Here's my config.

TrackIR 4 with a Pro Clip
Latest software 4 weeks ago
XP sp2
multiple monitor setup with 8800 GTS and 7800GTX
C2D, 2GB, ASUS DH Deluxe, yadda yadda
FSX sp1

Thanks!

1 - If you look at the tracking screen, do you see just the 3 green tracking dots?

2 - Are you using a USB hub, or plugging directly into the system?

I see three dots, and I am plugged directly into the computer.

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

You could try increasing the "Set Priority" for the TrackIR software, within the Task Manager -> Processes Tab -> Right click on the TrackIR.exe file -> Set Priority to AboveNormal....

See if that helps.....

That's good thinking on the priority. I'll try it tonight and report back. I'll also check the size of the profiles.

Setting the priority higher didn't help. TrackIR has done this since I've had it, before I installed any add-ons. I just figured it was the device's limit of sensitivity, but when I when to edit the profile, the head "unstuck" and it worked much better.

Right click on the Task bar, at the bottom of the screen.

Any more help on this issue, Vincent?

Also, I pinpointed the exact place where the tracking is mostly working and then works 100%.

Open TrackIR - mostly works
Click on the profiles tab - 100% works
