Newbie has some questions...

Post by codefinger »

I'm evaluating SmartNav on her Mac for my disabled wife who doesn't have much patience for learning anything new (which is why we ended up trying SmartNav after trying Ilisten speech recognition a few times.)

I tried the dwell clicking but I think its too easy to click things accidentally. Now I am trying out the voice clicking and that works fairly well, except for a couple of things...

1) Why is there no speech command to "Center". Seems like the user could look directly at the middle of the screen or straight ahead and say "Center" to fix things if they get outta whack --- and believe me, they do!

2) SmartNav and I will be clicking away on things when suddenly it stops responding to the click command...I might say "Click" several times and still nothing...then after about a minute, it suddenly executes every click command I've uttered! Of course by then the cursor has moved somewhere else so that's no good. Anyone else experienced this and if so, what did you do to fix it? Please tell me it can be fixed!

This is a mac 1book g4 laptop with OS 10.4.10

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not sure about the Mac version of the software, as we do not make it, but I will try to give you some possible answers.....

1 - The Windows version of the voice software has a center option, so I don't know why the mac version doesn't.

2 - Could it be possible that something else is trying to control the mic at the same time? Have you checked with RJCooper?
