Track IR 4 & FSX - XP and Vista Compared (Blue Light )

I have just installed TIR4. I tried it on my Vista Home Premium system (64 bit). FS9 (2004) seems to work fine. However, FSX does not work at all under Vista. I tried the various recommendations (loading, privileges, delete simconnect and repair etc, run AV with exceptions for FSX TIR etc) but still TIR under Vista Home 64 does not work with FSX. I have the latest driver. The software application appears fine showing tracking in head views etc - just no blue light under FSX.

Before you ask, system specs below.

I then tried under XP. FS9 (2004) seems to work fine. Indeed, FSX also works. Tried with a variety of aircraft Default and Addon and under XP FSX TIR4 all ok.

Problem for me is therefore isolated to Vista 64 and FSX. As this is the platform I am migrating to, this is the platform I really need this to work under.....


Vista Home Premium 64
2 Gb ram
FSX deluxe patched with sp1 and SDK patched to SP1a
Avast Anti Virus
Windows firewall - set to permit both FSX and TIR4

In sum, cannot get blue light on FSX under Vista 64 but works ok in xp

Have you done a clean install of FSX?

Any add-on applications installed?

Yes - clean install FSX, then patch to SP1.

Clean install TIR4 sw downloaded from website.

Only addons 2 aircraft Beaver and DO27 from Aerosoft.

Running both as an admin?

Do you currently see the simconnect folders, within the WinSXS folder?

I am always logged in as admin.

UAC off/disabled.

Simconnect folders within WinSXS folder, although now, even with full admin, cannot delete folders or files. Vista says dont have permissions. Tried to change under properties. Set from read-only to read write but still cannot delete - Vista says don't have permissions. Stress - am using an Admin account.

being logged in as an admin, and running them as an admin are different......

Right click on the shortcuts for each, and select run as admin.....
