TrackClip Pro cutting out
TrackClip Pro cutting out
I just purchased a new Track Clip Pro to use while playing Aces High 2. I have everything set up and it seems to be working and tracking fine until I get into a big fight.
At the most frustrating moment it will lock up in a view. When I alt-tab out of the game to check it, the TrackIR software says that it is disabled and everything is frozen, I can't access Heads, or Tracking or Gauges. I can go back in the game and it doesn't function for a long time, then on some occasions starts working again until it freezes again.
If I close out the Track IR software and restart it and the game, it again works fine until it locks again. I cannot find any pattern on the locking up except that it is usually when I'm trying to track lots of planes.
I have tried moving it up in processing within the task manager processes to above normal but that doesn't do anything either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Does this occur in any other gaming applications?
Do you have the hotkey buttons, F8, F9, and F12 assigned to do other things, within the gaming application?
Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Hi Vincent!
Thanks for your reply!
Answering here in the hope that the dialog will help others.
1. Does this occur in any other gaming applications?
I haven't tried it in any other gaming app, and I'm not actually interested in using it in other than Aces High. I'm not sure that I own any other gaming apps that would support it. If you can suggest others I can try them.
2. Do you have the hotkey buttons, F8, F9, and F12 assigned to do other things, within the gaming application?
Only as Aces High has them normally assigned, which is F8 = Direction Mode Pan, F9 = Direction Mode Instant, F12 = Voice Transmit Range. Other than the Voice Transmit I don't use them at all.
I don't use the F12 key to transmit that is mapped to my CH Fighter Stick, button 4, so it shouldn't be sending F12 into the system as far as I know.
What do you suggest that I do with those?
3. Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
Plugged directly into the system, not using the hub.
4. Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
What exactly to you mean? I'm not familiar with this term.
5. Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. I can go into the device manager and find the Universal Serial Bus Controllers and then under that there is the Natural Point TrackIR4. I double click that and there are only 3 tabs, General, Driver, Details, none of which have any power management buttons or tabs.
I hope this helps!
Thanks!

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
Hi Vincent!
Thanks for the phone help. I think I have the cutting out figured.
The default for pause is set to Joystick 1, which is used for firing the guns in the game. What was strange is it wouldn't happen every time the key was pressed. A suggestion for the future is since most flight games Joystick 1 is firing, is to set the default to some other not quite so important key
.
But now I have another question
. How can I set the pause to a Hatswitch on my Pro Throttle? It's not read as a joystick button by TrackIR?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
So when you go to select it, when adjusting the hotkeys, it doesn't see it?
By default, the F9 key is set for the pause feature, within the TrackIR software.......

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
No it doesn't. It doesn't register anything at all with the hatswitch.
Thanks!

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
What type of joystick?
Does it register any other button functions from the joystick?
Do you have any other joystick software running in the background?

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
It reads the regular joystick buttons just fine but not any of the multitude of hat switches that are on the Combat Stick and Pro Throttle (there are 4 of them).
I have the CH Manager but its not running under normal conditions as its only used in programming the controllers.
Thanks!

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
In investigating it further, it reads all of the hat switches except the view hat switch. That seems very odd.
It may be because the output of the view switch is DirectX?
Does that have any bearing on it?
Thanks!

Re: TrackClip Pro cutting out
The TrackIR uses directX, and directinput, so it should be fine, unless it just doesn't like the hat switch.........
After testing it here, the hat switch on my joystick also isn't seen by the software. So it could be due to how the system itself sees the hat switch, as it also does see a throttle control as a valid input switch either.
