cheated

Post by klumb »

hello

i feel a little cheated because i really need more fps but i can't afford $499 for features that i already have (dwell clicker, external switch input) with my older version 001732, that i paid $99 for btw. i can easily afford $199 for the standard version but it does'nt come with a dwellclicker or a switch input, that i must have. i see how you try to justify the new prices by showing prices of other devices from your competitors, but that's what i really thought set you apart from those leaches sucking what they can out of medicaide. i don't know what my point is exactly, i just find it ironic that what you used to sell for 99 bucks ballooned to 5 times that for only 2 times the frames.
i hope you don't take offence to my little rant. because i really love your product. in fact during a stay in the hospital, the doctors were so fascinated by my smartnav that i got visits from a speach therapist and the occupational therapist, and they ended up buying a few for evaluating for others with als, stroke victims, etc. because they could pay cash for it and did'nt have to wait 5 months for it to clear their insurance or medicaide. i also turned two people away from the madentec device and on to yours in the nursing home that i stay at. i actually bought mine for quake 2 but ended up using it for AT after pnumonia put me on a vent.
could'nt you sell the dwellclicker separatly?

Hello,

We appreciate your feelings, though a few things should be clarified. The $99 pricing was a special introductory offer, as the product was bran-new and we were trying to generate awareness in the community. The official price of $299 for the SmartNAV AT was announced in May of 2001. We are very happy that you liked our special introductory pricing, and have helped further our goal of generating awareness.

When we released the latest generation of hardware in September of 2004, we adjusted our pricing to reflect the updates to the product. This generation represents several years of improvements to both the hardware and software, improvements that go well beyond a increase in framerate. We are not a large company and have invested a significant amount of research and development in this product and continuously aim at delivering the best customer experience possible. Our prices represent a balance between what is fair to our customers, and our development and business costs.

An special upgrade price should be possible in your case, when the SN3 was introduced we offered special upgrade pricing as a sign of gratitude to our existing customers for their support. The offer ended several months ago, though we have extended it as a continued sign of our appreciation to the community.

I have contacted you by email to discuss the possibility of an upgrade to the latest generation of our SmartNAV product line. If you do not receive this email, please contact me at kevin@naturalpoint.com.
