TrackIR stopped working in CFS3

After several years of working without trouble, My TrackIR3 Pro + VE has stopped working in CFS3. The green light comes on, and the red LEDs are working, but the blue light stays off. It does however still work fully and properly in FSX, BoBII WoV, Falcon 4.0 AF, and IL2 1946 (I tested all those games tonight straight after the issue with CFS3 arose).

Is there any hint you can give me on why CFS3 is the odd one out?

Norton Anti-virus is running in the background (but the Norton window is not open). I have recently changed from a Logitech joystick to a CH products joystick. I suspect it may have something to do with the CH Control Manager (which I close down after downloading a profile and before starting any of the flight sims I've got), but TrackIR did work in CFS3 when I first changed joystick models.

I have seen issues with Logitech software running in the background, which caused CFS to no longer work.

From reading the various threads highlighting problems for some users running TrackIR with CFS3, I note that it is reported TrackIR starts differently for CFS3 than it does for some of the other flight sims. I'll freely admit I don't know why a diagnostic check couldn't figure out what was causing the problem - is this something the NaturalPoint techies couldn't reproduce?

It's a shame as I do enjoy CFS3, but not so much anymore now that TrackIR doesn't work with it and I have to go back to the hat switch to change views.

Are you still runing any logitech software?

I've pulled all my Logitech gear out of all the USBs. I've removed all the drivers using 'Add or Remove Programs', and I've changed my Logitech USB optical mouse for a Microsoft one.

So when you pull up the Task Manager there is no logitech software running in the background?

Do you have Trend Micro software running?

the only thing running in the background now when I have CFS3 and TrackIR running is Norton Internet Security 2008. I close the CH Products control manager software before starting CFS3. CFS3 / TrackIR / Norton have co-existed in the past on my PC.
