TrackIR / Webcam - please educate me!

Post by Reject »

Fair Greetings, people!

I was hoping to have my questions answered, preferably first and foremost by any users of TrackIR rather than developer. But an answer is better than no answer, so please shoot regardless of who you are!

At the moment Im using a home-built device with 1 LED and a webcam for tracking. Now;

1. Would a NaturalPoint TrackIR give better performance, with regards to FPS, angle of tracking, smoothness etc?

2. Hmm...Im sure I had another question lying around in the back of my mind, but I cant remember it right now :)

Grateful for any answer,

1 -

Sample rate - 120fps (most webcams run 15-30 fps)
camera resolution - 710 x 288
field of view - 46 degree

Our product does most of the processing on the camera itself, when greatly reduces the load on the CPU. In pratice the TrackIR software runs between 0-2 percent of system resources, and won't effect FPS within a gaming application.

In the words of Neo in the movie Matrix: Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

I think you've got yourself a sale :P Just have to wait in this months salary...
