wheel trust gm3200 and trackir

Post by jal »

Hi,

I've just bought today a trust wheel, the model gm3200, and it works perfect whit the games TDU and CM Dirt.

But just in the same moment I make double click on the track ir icon, the wheel is somehow disconected and then it doesn't work anymore unless I close the sesion and then open it again.

I also tried to install the latest stable version of the track ir soft, run the software and then plug in the wheel, but the result is that the wheel is not recognized by windows.

I only found this problem with the wheel when I run the software of the track ir, so it's obvious that there is some kind of incompatibility between both of them.
I'm having this problem in a computer with windows xp sp2 fresh installation with 2 days old and no internet conection, so I will presume that there is no much software or even malware that can make it fail.

Any suggestion, walkthrough or idea that can help me to solve this problem? It's quite frustratin to have a nice piece of hardware completely useless over the monitor >_<

thanks

What type of system do you have the devices plugged into?

How old is the system?

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer and sorry for my delay.

I've just tried to turn off the power save feature of the usb ports, and the response is the same. So it didn't work.

1) The motherboard has 4 usb ports, and only one extra device is plug in appart from the track ir and the wheel, and it's an external hard drive. I have already tried with it off, and the result was the same.

2) The computer is around 2 years old:
- Mboard: Asus A8N Sli Deluxe
AMD x2 +4200
1 MB RAM
GC: 3dclub nvidia 7900 gt

All drivers are the original ones given with the computer at the purchase moment, not up to date drivers downloaded from internet has been installed.

3) Yes, both trackir and the wheel are directly pluged to the motherboard

4) The wheel works perfect if the trackir software is not open.
Trackir works perfect even with the wheel pluged in, of course, the wheel is not working.

The "strange" behaviour I noticed is if I unplug the trackir, and open the trackir software, the wheel will work ok, but if I plug again the trackir, then the wheel will stop working. So I guess the problem should be around the way trackir software handle the usb port conection or something.

I hope this info will help you.

thanks four your attention

It could also be that there isn't enought voltage to be running the external hadd, the TrackIR, and the wheel at the same time.

1 - Try updating the motherboard bios, and chipset drivers.

2 - Try using an external USB hub, with it's own power supply.
