After upgrading to v4.1.035.Final app does not start
After upgrading to v4.1.035.Final app does not start
I have Track IR 3 + vector device on my win2k. It worked fine until upgrading sw to ver. 4.1.34. Tried to deinstall/install several times (reboting in between). Even disconnected TIR.
The results is the same:
TrackIR app does not startup, however trackIR.exe process is present in task manager (kill proces does not help) and the Device manager reckognises the device as naturalpoint devices/ naturalpoint trackIR 3.
Any help to make it work?
Aleks

Re: After upgrading to v4.1.035.Final app does not start
In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?
Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?
Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?
Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?
In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Re: After upgrading to v4.1.035.Final app does not start
Hi,
the TrackIR is connected directly in USB port. I have read the prevous fourms and also checked my profile size. Each is 2KB.
I didn't change any setting on USB ports neither. The device manager properly reckognises the Track IR 3 device. I even uninstalled trackir 4.1 build 35, rebooted, deleted remaining files in trackIR/ folder and reinstalled build 35. Same effect.
In the mean time I found a workaround. Uninstalled the 35 build. Reboot PC and installed back build 30. It works well now and does not hung on exit, neither. Probably I'll stick to this build for some time.
Thanks.

If you do decide to upgrade to build 35 again, you might want to make sure the TrackIR is showing up under "NaturalPoint Devices" in the Device Manager instead of USB devices. This will ensure that its using the new USB driver instead of the old one.
Re: After upgrading to v4.1.035.Final app does not start
I'll giv it another try. Your observation was right: the trackir in the devicemanager was under: Universal Serial Bus controllers/NaturalPoint TrackIR3.
But how to change that? Simply removing device won't help, maybe I should remove driver before instaling build 035.

Also, after installing the latest drivers. Try manually pointing to the driver install location -
C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Drivers
C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Drivers

Hi
I have what sounds to be essentially the same problem.
my TIR 3 works fine till I try to use the series 4 drivers, at which point:
The software fails to launch automatically, though it shows as a process in the task manager.
If I kill the process, I can launch the software - though it takes a very long time to load & hangs if I use file exit.
Whichever way I start the software, it fails to detect the TIR unit (no device detected), even though the device manager says the unit is working correctly, and the driver shows in properties as the correct driver.
There is no power saving tab on the properties for this devices
If I revert to an earlier version of the driver, the unit works fine again.
In various efforts to make the new drivers recognise the unit I have uninstalled software & hardware numerous times, re-started & shut down again before re-installing, forced the unit to re-load the driver from the device properties, tried using other USB ports & tried using the registry cleaner from this site (which said no device to fix)
As with for Alex, my TIR shows under "Universal Serial Bus controllers/NaturalPoint TrackIR3"
- you suggested that he "might want to make sure the TrackIR is showing up under "NaturalPoint Devices" in the Device Manager instead of USB devices". How would I ensure that, as by default it is appearing as a device on the universal serial bus.
Machine is a P4 3.2Ghz running Win2k SP4

What version of the TrackIR software are you using?
In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?
Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Version 4.1 build 29
I've (uninstalled &) installed it in every USB port on the box..
NaturalPoint TrackIR 3 appears as a device under universal serial bus controllers, alphabetically falling between the host controllers and the root hubs.
Profiles are 2KB each - currently using driver version 3.2.29.0 - which works fine, except in games that need newer TIR drivers...
