Point Cloud Won't Reconstruct

Post by Sz88 »

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a motion tracking system for medical applications. Right now I'm just using a rather small empty office to set up in so I have been trying to use a four camera setup just to test the software, basically I want to see if we can track the movement of someone's head (if four cameras is automatically a problem then let me know)

After some trial and error I managed to set up a system that will successfully calibrate the cameras with the grid showing the position of the four cameras relative to the triangle calibrator quite accurately. However, after I finish the calibration wizard, the main screen shows the cameras as being synchronized and calibrated, but the point cloud is forever stuck at the status of 'Reconstructing' and all of the view boxes only show black, text data and the dead pixels (if applicable). What could be going wrong here?

I'm using Parallels on an iMac to run Arena with 1628Mb of memory and the version of Arena is 1.30035. Thanks,

Kirk

Ok, so I've tried with six cameras and the problem persists so this isn't an issue due to using less than six cameras.

It could be that the software is running in Parallels, as that is a setup which the software wasn't designed to support or tested for.

I think I might have found the problem. Do you need to do a skeleton calibration even if you intend to capture the motion of other objects? I have gone through the rigid body calibration and added the body I actually want to track for reference.

If you have calibrated the cameras and created a rigid body from captured data, having the rigid body should be sufficient to trajectorize. You should not need to have a skeleton loaded.

We really want to stress that running Arena in Virtual Machine software (Parallels, VMWare, VirtualPC, etc) is not supported and is likely to result in problems capturing from and interfacing with the cameras. You need to run Arena on a computer dedicated to Windows XP/Vista.
