Odd happenings with Trackir
Odd happenings with Trackir
Hi all
Hoping for some help. Have just purchased tr4 with proclip, and everything seems to be working. However, I am struggling to remove a particular trait. When I turn my head left/right (yaw), the effect is of me having a screw thread on my neck, ie, turn left and head viewpoint goes down, look right and viewpoint goes up.
I've tried it in fsx and whenever I look left i get a view of the bottom of the door, and then i look right and my head pops out of the top of the plane like a giraffe. I know it's only a tuning issue but I just cannot seem to make the right tweaks to eliminate the issue. Any ideas?
All the best, Andy

Hi Andy,
What you're experiencing sounds like more than a tweaking issue to me. Have you selected TrackClip PRO as your tracking type in the profile management window? If you are using the default tracking type (standard hat clip) in the software, but wearing the TrackClip Pro, you will have erratic tracking, which could be the problem.
Have you opened up the Tracking window (View>Tracking) to look for interference from other light sources in the background?
I've actually had the same experience in FSX once before, and a simple reboot solved it... so you can always try that.
If you've already tried the above and still have problems, feel free to contact us at support@naturalpoint.com with your problems.

Hi there
Yes, I've selected TrackClip Pro as the tracking type, although, oddly enough, I had slightly less cork-screwing when selecting the vector option. There doesn't appear to be any interference in the tracking screen, and I've also tried it in a darkened room to be sure. Results still the same.

When you preview with the Heads screen, what happens? Does it look correct, or does the preview head corkscrew like in-game?

Hmmm... this problem does sound familiar, but I'm out of ideas. Our Support Manager is out of the office today, but I think he could return tomorrow. If you email him directly, he can probably offer more suggestions.

Re: Odd happenings with Trackir
Have you selected TrackClip Pro in all the different profiles?
The TrackIR is on the left side of the monitor?
TrackClip Pro on left side of headset?
Long leg of the Clip Pro, on the bottom?
Are the 3 LEDs fairly centered in the Tracking screen, and lined up vertically?

Not sure what you mean? I've only been working on one profile for FSX. Didn't want to start on others 'til I got one working. But trackClip Pro was selected.

The top and bottom LEDs are aligned vertically, with the middle one being slightly offset. As is the hardware. Should this be adjusted so that it appears in the tracking screen totally aligned?
Cheers, andy

Re: Odd happenings with Trackir
Oh, and another things that seems sporadic is that although the tracking screen constantly shows smooth tracking of the LEDs the heads screen shows otherwise. If it was the "in-game" head I wouldn't be too concerned, but the "actual" head on the left will, as I slowly rotate left, suddenly headbutt down, and forward.
Having said that, I did manage a smooth session last night, but without having had a Eureka moment and changing any of the options. Not sure if my "issues" are waiting to strike again.

Make sure that you have TrackClip pro selected in all the profiles (Flight, racing etc.)
Watch for a stray IR, whitch could cause the erratic movement.
