Lower FOV lenses?
Lower FOV lenses?
I've read a post about using non-NaturalPoint lenses to get a higher FOV for increased tracking area. How about using non-NaturalPoint lenses to get a lower FOV? Specifically for the Slim-V100 in your enclosure. Could C, CS, and M12 lenses be used? Would there be any negative effects on the tracking quality?
Re: Lower FOV lenses?
Yes, different mounting setups, can allow you to use different lens setups.
Please note that depending on lens quality, there will be a difference in lens distortion.
And depanding on the lens size, focal, point, and type, it can effect which case setup you can use.

Re: Lower FOV lenses?
any recommendations to get a FOV somewhere between 10 and 30 degrees? Lens type doesn't matter much to me as long as it has low distortion.
Re: Lower FOV lenses?
Hello:
Typically the smaller the FOV, the lower the distortion, so you are moving in the right direction.
For the SLIM, I would use CS or C mount lenses and you can use a standard 6mm lens to get about 34 degrees horizontal full field of view. Next standard size is 8mm and would be about about 27 degrees. The higher the quanlity on the lens, the lower the distortion, and CS or C mount tend to be much nicer than M12 (except of course for our 4.5mm M12 lens).
