Just wondering if TrackIR would have any issues with this hardware setup:
50" Plasma Screen sitting on my desk connected via HDMI to my computer.
Will the "Height" of the TrackIR hardware sitting all the way up there on top of my 50" flatscreen be a problem?
Just some pre-troubleshooting/pre-sale questions. Thanks.

Re: TrackIR attached to the top of my 50" flatscreen
I just noticed in the "Read Me" link for new users that the "tracking hardware" that goes on the monitor "has to be at the same level as the tracking hardware on your hat/headset/head".
Can the tracking hardware that goes on the monitor, be placed onto "the side" of my TV and still work?

Hi Peter,
Your TrackIR can actually be positioned a bit above your head level. About how far away/high up would the unit be compared to your head?
You can position the unit on its side. In addition to upright, the TrackIR software has settings for the unit to be placed at 90, 180, and 270 degree positions for this very purpose.

Hey Seth,
I can attach the receiver to the side of the TV?
How high above my head is the top of the TV?
I'm at work right now and not at home, maybe about 1 ft. abvove my head (or 1'6" at the most).
Thanks Seth.

If you can find a way to securely mount the TrackIR camera to the side of your TV, it's possible to configure the software to track your head movements accordingly. TrackIR 4's mounting base isn't specifically designed for mounting on its side, but you can probably rig up a solution with some adhesive.peterjohnkerner wrote:Hey Seth,

As long as you're within 1.5 and 4 feet of the camera horizontally, I think that 1-1.5 feet of elevation above your head should be fine, as long as you tilt the camera downward a bit to accommodate. I think that a slightly elevated TrackIR is actually desirable for good tracking coverage. How high above my head is the top of the TV?
