Eliminating the slew....is it possible?

Post by SecondSkin »

Basically, I would like to get my head tracking to jump to a couple different postions without (or with very little) slewing of the display. Obviously, I can boost the smoothing and deadzone (which I have done) but there is still some jitters and motion in the screen.

In other words, I would like my display to stay centered until I move my head a certain amount (say 15 deg left), at which point the display would jump say 30 deg left (which can be done with dead zone), but then I would like another dead zone (ie the display stays at 30 deg left) until I move my head another 15 deg. Is this possible? It would help a lot in simulations of normal driving, btw.

You can have multiple dead zones within the software profiles.

Wow, fast response. Thanks. I had no idea that was possible. I'll check it out now.

Ok, here is the problem. I have triple screens, which I know puts me in the minority of users, but the vast majority of the tracking curve setpoints (positions -20 to +20) are in the middle monitor where I want a full deadzone. This leaves only positions 30-50 to actually set curves, which isn't enough for true multiple deadzones.

Is there any way to move the setpoints out horizontally so that all of my setpoints occur between 20-50 for instance?

Thanks again, Mark

With the latest TrackIR 5 software, all of the points can be adjusted horizontally, except for the center point, and the outside points.

Perfect. Any chance the version 5 software work with trackIR4 hardware? (I have several machines with trackir4, btw. Upgrading will be pretty expensive)

Yep, TrackIR 4 and 5 users will both be able to use software version 5.0. TrackIR 3 w/ Vector owners will have support in version 5.1.
