scroll feature

Post by dan_hawkins »

It would be great if the ‘Scroll’ feature was more integrated into the browser (specifically Internet Explorer) and any other application that has a scroll bar.

In Internet Explorer and Word it is currently awkward for 2 reasons.

You need to keep your finger on the hot key - using the keyboard is something I need to avoid because of tendonitis in my wrists and forearms.

It strains the neck to grab and drag. The scroll feature is easier on the neck.

Let me know what could be done. Maybe imbed the feature into those programs with a scroll bar or enable a hotkey that would keep scroll active until the hotkey is pressed again.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan:

Thanks for the note. We are defining the spec for version 3 of the smart-NAV software now, so I will add in your comments.

Jim,

To add to this original post...

I would be great if the hotkey for the scroll function could be pressed once to activate. That way you could press the assigned hotkey, the scroll icon would appear, and you could scroll using NaturalPoint. When you were done scrolling you could press the hotkey again (or some other key) to have scroll toggle off.

I don't know what is technically possible but this would be a great feature for those with RSI.

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks for the feedback. We will be working on the scroll feature in 3.0, trying to make it easier and more functional. I might suggest that a footswitch be in order, so you can assign the scroll funtion to it, instead of the keyboard.

Just have a button or symbol to click. Once clicked moving up and down scroll up and down and moving left and write scrolls left and right. Clicking symbol again turns feature off. You could put a little bar right on the task bar like Windows media player does for their various controls can be placed on task bar.
