Hi all,
I just pulled my trackir 3 out of a box for the first time in years. It's not working and I don't know why. The little green dot appears very clearly on the 'tracking' menu, but it doesn't track my head at all.
The only way I can get it to track my head and get the little green light on the main unit to light up is to hold up an entire sheet of tracking dots--and even with that, it can't be more than about 10 inches away. Using a single dot at a normal distance yields absolutely no head tracking at all.
What's going on? Any ideas? (I'm using Win XP by the way, TrackIR software version 4.1 build 37)
Having trouble getting it to track
Re: Having trouble getting it to track
In the software, view -> tracking
Is there more than one object on the screen, any red?
Do you have vector tracking installed on the system?
View -> tracking -> settings, is trhe option for camera LEDs checked?

Nope. Just the green dot.NaturalPoint - Vincent wrote: Is there more than one object on the screen, any red?
It says 'vector tracking is active' on the main screen.Do you have vector tracking installed on the system?

...by the way I don't know if this is useful. But I just tried putting it into a new USB port, and windows gave me the 'found new hardware' thing again. I thought that was kind of strange, I went ahead and re-installed it automatically again anyway.
Oh, apparently I have the TrackIR 4, not 3, if that matters...
Re: Having trouble getting it to track
OK, so you will need the metal TrackClip, that came with the TrackIR 4, as you need 3 reflective dots (IR sources for the vector software to track

If you want to do single dot tracking, you will need to go into each profile (flight, default, etc.) and select dot, instead of vector.
