Zoom function according to changing dot distance?

Could it be possible to implement a zoom function?
In the tracking tab I can see that if I move the dot closer to the camera the height and width value increase.
I think this could be used to send user-defined keystrokes at certain dot sizes (=distances). This could be utilized for example in IL2/FB, because it provides commands for changing field of vision, eg. certain keystrokes.
On the other hand, I have a habit of moving my head closer to screen to see the far away aircraft (maybe just a couple of pixels wide objects!). This of course causes rapid changes in the view. Could the X/Y movement be frozen if the height is increasing/decreasing?
Perhaps a Z-axis would represent the dot distance?
