Feature Request

Post by Yammo »

First I'd like to thank NaturalPoint for an absolutely marvellous
product! Out-of-the-box it worked 5-by-5... After having been
fighting with Free-track for a year, this was pure heaven...
So... Thanks! :)

Now, there are a couple of minor things which would like to see
being added which would make for an even more fluent experience.

1: Double-click on tray ==> Maximizes!!!
Why anyone would want to Minimize/maximize to the TaskBar is
beyond me... If I doubleclick on the tray, I want to access the
program... Perhaps you could check WinAmp for reference. (Which
has an option for if WinAmp should minimize to TaskBar or to the
SysTray)

2: SysTray->Menu->"Quit"
To quit you now have to double-click the SysTray icon, which
brings the program to the TaskBar, Click it again to bring it up
to full size, then press (X) to quit. (would be much smoother to
just "right-click-quit".)

Like I said... Minor things... almost feel petty bringing them up.
But they would streamline TrackIR even more, and quite frankly,
those two things just keeps bugging the heck out of me.

And lastly...
3: A reset that doesn't recalculate the pivots.
When I'm flying IL2-Sturmovik, I sometimes want to offset the
center position of my avatar. (For example re-centering the ingame
camera position to the gun-sights, which in some planes is not the
centre of the cockpit.) Presently, however, this is a bad idea,
since the pivots seem to be re-calculated along the position making
the camera swing about wildly.

So, I would like a "light"-version of the "center" function,
which did not re-calculate the pivots, (something I do only once
when starting the game). But instead only reset the position and
rotation, (something I do every 2 minutes, borderline OCD i know ;).

I do realize this would risk making TrackIR a bit more complex,
(since the user would have to understand the difference between the
two resets. I don't really have a solution to this proble other than
keeping the "light"-recenter option hidden under some "advanced" tab.
It's just that I often find myself recentering the TIR with my head
off-center just to make things easier in-game, but end up with
artifacts that are even worse...

I think the ideal would if I could have a "keep button pressed for X
seconds to reset pivots as well as position/rotation".

If it works it works... if it doesn't... it doesn't...
They're just some ideas... :)
