Joystick emulation

Post by LordJuanlo »

Hello all

I'm new to this forum. I've just bought a 3D glasses and TrackIR combo, I hope to receive it next week. I have been browsing this forum and I would like to ask for a nice feature (I think it would be nice).

What about joystick emulation?. I think if the TrackIR could appear as a pair of DirectX joystick axes it would be awesome. I have an USB ThrustMaster HOTAS joystick, and when I go into Control Panel -> Gaming Devices it appears as a lot of axes and buttons. But there are still free axes, so it would be very nice to assing the TrackIR to any free DirectX axis.

If someone does not have joystick at all it could appear as Axis 0 and 1. It should be configurable so that it does not interfiere with current DirectX axis taken by other gaming devices.

One of my favourite games is X-Wing Alliance. It has a virtual cockpit mode. For this mode you can select any DirectX axis you want. So if this device acts like two axis, you don't need to care about game support anymore.

Well, specific game support is great, but if this does not exist, any game with joystick support would work.

To summarize it, we already have mouse emulation. It would be great if this thing can also emulate joystick (with axis selection).

I don't know if it has been asked before, if it has, I'm sorry.
