TrackIR not working in FSX Win7

Post by chief95 »

I have been unable to get TrackIR V.5 to work since I upgraded to FSX with Window 7.
Here is what is happening. When I load up TrackIR the yellow/orange lite lites up on the camera (at top). Then I go to calibrate, I use clip on a cap everything seems to work fine, I see the 3 green lites are on, my head movement is followed etc.
Then I load up flight sim and the camera has the yellow/orange light still on plus a blue lite at the bottom lites up.
BUT, then the camera stops working in other words when I move my head the camera does not follow my had movement.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Are you running both applications at he same permission level (try right clicking on the EXE for each, and selecting run as admin)?

What version of FSX are you using, do you have SP1/SP2 installed for FSX?

Any other add-ons installed for FSX?

So the green light is on, on the top of the device, and the blue LED is on on the bottom of the camera?

Vincent, as stated in my first post the small green lights come on when I am calibrating, then when I go to flight sim the lights on the camera are thus:
TOP: "yellow" almost "orange"

BOTTOM: "blue"

FIXED! Yesterday, I set up TrackIR 5b for FSX on my Windows 7 machine and everything worked fine. Today, the camera light would go off and on unexpectedly and tracking would stop. I tried moving to other USB ports, turned off 'power saving' etc, based on suggestions from this forum.

Well, none of that worked and here's why...

In the top-right box of TrackIR's screen (the 'camera' window?), the three dots that correspond to my TrackClip Pro were moving off the top of the screen... in other words, the camera couldn't see them. The solution was to reposition the camera so that those dots were positioned in the center of that box both horizontally and vertically. Geez... I fought with this for hours!

I think the camera mount has a built-in downward tilt that is a little too severe.

Hopefully, this will help someone else save some time.

Thanks!

Larry

With the led yellow/orange, what happens if you press f9 (this is the default pause key)

Thanks for your input Larry, but yes my camera is well centered, I see the 3 green lights right in the middle.

Vincent, when I am in flight sim and I press the F9 key neither light goes off, they both remain lit.

If I am in TrackIr screen I see that it pauses as it should. the F9 shows paused.

I had not check your posting sooner as I was out of town. I am still very interested in solving this problem.

Thanks.

Have you tried running both the TrackIR software, and the gaming application as an admin (right click on the exe file for each, and select run as admin)?
