Ground Plane Question

Post by filmcraft »

How do you set the ground plane using expression if the ground is not actually on the ground? Do you just hold it until it comes into view? I also noticed the official quick start guide has the lower cameras in the wrong position, is this the correct way or....?

You can use the thread mount on the ground plane to attach it to the top of a tripod within view of the cameras. Then measure its distance from the ground and put that value into the height offset field when you are setting the ground plane.

By "wrong position" do you mean the lower cameras are not rotated 90 degrees so they operate in a portrait orientation? If so, the portrait orientation is recommended but not mandatory. We encourage customers to try different configurations and choose what works best for their particular usage and operating environment.

I have noticed that when I tryto do a three point calibration in exspression that I am not able to set the ground plane. the button is grayed out. If I do a one point calibration I have no problem. Is this a user error or is it a bug? I am using your current new release of Arena 1.7.1

never mind I got it working it was user error on my part. what I needed to do was make my camera set up at 3 feet instead of two feet apart. I got and excelent calibration and then the set ground plan was made available.
