Track IR5
Track IR5
Have a new TR. Install went great no crashes. Works great in all head positions. U&D L&R. Problem is that I can't seem to get a good position to see a full panel or at least 3/4 without having to bend my neck forward and down.Would be nice to sit erect and look at my monitor. I have slowed things down an have no malfunctions with TR. Sitting about 2.5 feet from monitor. With a 75 yr old pair of eyes and glasses not everything works. Not real computer literate some of my gaming fiends helped with tweaking. Only fly FSX.Hooked direct No USB hub. Sennheiser HD 201 Headset great fit. No Mic.Use stand alone mic. Appreciate any help or thoughts.
Re: Track IR5
OK, it sounds like you may need to reset the center position, that the aircraft uses within FSX.
You will need to adjust this within the aircraft .cfg file, within FSX itself
The link below lists how to do it within ESP, but it is the same if you are using FSX, just the folder name is different (ESP=FSX)

Re: Track IR5
Thanks Vincent will try as you suggested.
Re: Track IR5
Hi Nagua, I read your post and Vincent's fix, I have a similar problem, I use a clip on my hat, install went OK, but I cannot get more than 10 to 15 degree movement up/down left/right. Can't see out either side window or down to the yoke. I tried the fix but it didn't change anything. I wonder if the fix worked for you.

Hi Oysterman:
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am still fighting this. Tried to master this thing several months ago and could not do it now have several gamer friends trying to help me. Actually what happens is that if I point my head and neck down I get several rows of instruments and clear view 360 degrees around the cockpit. Can change the view area by moving farther away from the monitor but screws up my vision. I do all the motions that show on the you tube demo. He makes it look so easy.It seems as a real world pilot easier to fly than master this thing. The clip was a disaster went to the headset and made a world of difference but did not totally solve my problem. When I hit F12 have top row of gauges on my monitor. Have to sit with a bend in my neck to keep a full instrument panel on the monitor.Realize at times head movement is necessary but not for a 2 hour straight and level flight. Sorry can't help you more.

Hi Vincent:
Spent a lot of time this past weekend with several gamer friends and did not have much luck with the instrument panel positioning. When I hit F12 the panel centers and I see 1 row or the top of the panel. Point my head down towards the floor and the panel raises to full view.360 degree view. Tried different distances from the monitor.Move my head like the demo on You Tube and I get the same responses like the demo other than head on. Something I am not doing right or don't understand. Also another question. Sequence for shutting down TR. If I shut everything down first FSX-REX etc than TR I get the message shutting down camera and everything shuts down fine. If I get a message shutting down clients I know I am in trouble and have to do a hard shut down because TR freezes.Appreciate your help. Thanks

Re: Track IR5
You have to actually edit the aircraft.cfg file, within FSX itself, for each aircraft, so that the recentering point itself is modified.

The following parameter define the pilot's viewpoint.
Property Description Examples
eyepoint Position relative to datum reference point. Airbus A321( eyepoint=48.2, -1.35, 1.7 )
Aircreation582SL( eyepoint=-0.205052,0.000000,3.604314 )
Boeing 747-400( eyepoint = -18.55, -1.97, 10.7 )
Beech Baron 58( eyepoint = -8.213, -0.8612, 2.220 )

Re: Track IR5
Thanks Vincent:
Appreciate your response not that I fully understand it. Will try and get some help with this. If I understand what you are telling me is that if I have 50 add on aircraft in FSX I will need to change each one that I want to fly with TrackIR because each will have a different eye point. Is this pretty common when transitioning or setting up TrackIR.? Thanks

Re: Track IR5
Unfortunately, within FSX this is the way that it needs to be done.
Within FS9, you could still use the keyboard shortcuts, to adjust the eyepoint and still use the IR camera. With FSX, they changed how the camera is setup, and the keyboard adjustments are turned off whenever a device, using the simconnect portion of FSX, is detedted as being active.

Hi Vincent:
You had sent me the info from MS for resetting the point of view had some help from some pretty smart guys they are as confused as I was. I put 4" of extra wood under my monitor that helped somewhat. Problem is that when I turn TR and FSX on sometimes monitor view is perfect with no adjustments with or without the monitor elevated. Don't understand why this happens. If POV is out of whack why not all the time. Had some great flights TR works perfect next reboot I loose the panel or part of it.Appreciate any thoughts. Heck to be dumb. You make it sound so simple.
