major mouse lag in most games...

I am a quadriplegic and have the smartnav 4 EG and have noticed in most newer games, mostly when "free-looking" with the mouse, that the camera will just sputter and jump around. I always make sure my software is up to date, and have even been having this issue with my much older smartnav mouse I purchased 6 years prior. I had purchased the new version hoping that it might fix this issue, to no avail. Any help you can offer would be great as I spend a lot of time on the computer and most games are made impossible because of the problem. Thank you in advance for any assistance yielded.
