FBX 2011 export

Post by DonBurroni »

Hi guys,
Been doing full body capture in arena, exporting the takes to FBX, for one 5 mins motion , motionbuilder 2011 can take 10mins to open one file.

Its because Arena Exports it in a motionbuilder 7.5 format.

So I request export options for 2011 FBX to speed up the pipeline, when i try to open a 3GB FBX file from arena with multiple takes I fear it will take days to open.

(tried to convert the files to 2011 with the FBX converter too, and i loose the actor from the scene, but it opens the file in seconds)

I have added the request to the features request list, for Arena.

Curerntly there is no timeline for this feature to be added to the software.

thanks Vince,
found a work around too,

I convert the arena exported motion take FBX files to FBX 2011 with the FBX converter can get it here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc ... d=10775855

As I mentioned before the actor will vanish

If you open the exported FBX skeleton from Arena (with no motion and no conversion), when you select the actor in the navigator you can export the actor markerset from the actor pannel.

then merge the FBX skeleton file into the FBX motion file (now converted to FBX 2011), we now have an actor back, select him again in the navigator and import the markerset from before...

Boom the files will open and save in seconds not hours.

All the best
