May sound off topic but from what I read about it it uses very much the same technology as TrackIR?
But instead of using it for simulating head movement it will use it for simulating your hands and whatever you do with them. As a TrackIR fanboy I am already totally sold on the Nintendo revolution. It truly feels like its the only next gen console now when MS and Sony is so stuck on just copying their old controllers only making them wireless.
Wonder if this could somehow be ported over to PC. Now GameCube games didnt make it to PC very often but imagine if game developers starts to play these and finally wake up and see the possibilities. I see no reason why you wouldnt be able to use todays TrackIR in the same way. Just putting a dot on a pen or something.
Having a console that support this technology must be the best way to make it widespread really.

Re: Nintendo Revolution controller
Totally agree that this is exciting news!
We are of course convinced that 6dof motion input is the future of gaming.
The big question is : how are they capturing the motion? how precise is it?
it appears to be based on accelerometers (they filed an accelerometer based patent back in 2003).
and maybe it also uses some optical input? (I've read that you have to place device(s) by your tv). Don't personally know how else they could measure your distance from the screen (but i'm not an NP engineer).
very curious. Can't wait to see what our engineers says after laying hands on a controller! With Nintendo on board the motion tracking movement, things should start to get very interesting in 2006.

Re: Nintendo Revolution controller
I have heard it does x,y and z but its all rumours. But seeing you hold it as a remote I guess it does send signals to a receiver in the nack end in some way.
Maybe you Naturalpoint guys knows more about it
