Optitrack hub problem

Post by chris123 »

Hello,

There seems to be a problem wih one of our 2 optitrack hubs (we have an 8 camera system with 2 hubs).
Everything seems fine and the four cameras plugged into it can be viewed in Arena, but when selecting the cameras I get intermittent warnings about the hubs not being synchronized (even though the sync cable is plugged in). If I unplug all the cameras and plug them in one by one, this warning does not come up. However, when I try to calibrate, it always fails - and says to try increasing the number of data points. Even with the max of 500 points it still fails.
If I just use four cameras on the dodgy hub I get the same problem. If I use the same cameras, cables etc. and just replace the hub with the other one then calibration works and I get 'Excellent' on all cameras.

Is there anything further I can try (e.g. re-flashing the hub) or does this hub need replacing?

Thanks,
Chris

OptiHubs feature no user servicable parts. Based on your troubleshooting, I would venture to guess that repair may be in order. Please send your serial number to support@naturalpoint.com, and we will see what the best option for repair for you is.

look to see if you have an extension cable on one of the cameras that can do it too!

(cable need to be the same length I think)

All the best

Cables don't need to be the same length, per se, however there is a limitation of 5m with no extensions for each hub to camera wire run.

Thanks for the tips. We borrowed another hub and that worked fine even with all the same cables, so we'll go ahead and replace our one.
