Sorry if this has been asked before..I'm considering purchasing the trackIR 5 and would like to know if it still works optimally when placed on top of a large TV.
I would be sitting about 5 feet horizontally from the screen, and the camera would be about 1.5 feet vertically higher than the top of my head.
I would use this for racing so I prefer not to use the trackclipPRO as I don't wear headphones.
I gather this should work for my particular situation, but I'd like to know if I'd be sacrificing anything in terms of tracking precision at this distance/height. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: TrackIR with large TV
It should work, but there will be some loss in precision. Some people find it better to mount the TrackIR behind them and invert the pitch, roll, x, and z axes.
Re: TrackIR with large TV
Thanks for the response. Is there a difference in tracking quality if the device is mounted on the side of the TV, i.e. offset horizontally to allow for alignment vertically with top of head?

Re: TrackIR with large TV
The farther you are from the camera, the less the offset will effect the performance of the device. The software does feature a camera rotation setting so you can physically mount the camera at either 90, 180, or 270 rotated.
