Framerate loss using TrackIR 5

Post by Taylor »

Hi guys, I just purchased TrackIR 5 to use with FSX, but I have a problem. It has a framerate impact of 8-10 when I attempt to fly. This is a huge problem, because my system and FSX is configured to run at a stable 20 fps (pitiful, I know...), so when I use it I'm pulling an amazing 10-12 fps. I bought the thing for $150 on Amazon, so I'd like to sort this out. My computer specs are below, and I am using TrackIR 5 with the standard hat clip. Please help if possible, thanks!!!

I have a Gateway SX2311-03 desktop, and it has:
-Windows 7 Home Premium
-AMD Phenom II X4 820 quad-core processor
-NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics
-A one terrabyte hard drive
-4GB DDR3 Memory
-A multi in one media card reader
-Monitor is a ViewSonic 1920x1080p full HD LED

My first question would be do you have any firewall or anti virus software installed and running (including the windows firewall)? FSX talks with TrackIR via a network protocol, so if there aren't any exceptions set up it's possible that an AV program is working overtime to scan the stream in real time.

Additionally, What version of TrackIR software are you using? If you're using 5.1.3, try switching to 4.1.038 (also on the main download page). This software version is less video intensive, and may prove easier on your system to have running in the background.
