Hello, just got trackir 5 w/pro clip and I love it. I jus have a few questions.
First, what is optimal positioning for the sensor and clip? I followed the small QuickStart guide, but when I look upwards it loses one of the tracking points pretty quickly. If I move the sensor further to the left (for example) then it loses tracking if I look up and to the left. It's not a major issue, but gets annoying when tracking stops while I'm looking around outside the cockpit.
Second, and perhaps more major, is Hotkeys will not work in game. I have to open up the tir software (with the game running in the background) in order for the Hotkeys to have an effect. I have the Hotkeys checked enable, toggle, and trap. How can I get Hotkeys working?
Thanks
Optimal position and Hotkeys questions
Re: Optimal position and Hotkeys questions
Hey! Optimal is what the manual states in the TrackIR directory it is installed on. Although I don't follow it exactly, as in its not as far away from the device or directly in front of me.
I have my camera on my monitor a little more to the left of center so its more directly in front of my pro clip. Now I have also moved my clip so it is more horizontal then vertical. I did (and it looks goofy) because I was having the same problem you were.
If you open the software and look at the view that the camera is seeing if I had it vertical the the dots were pretty close together and movement of the camera would get messed up. Having it horizontal the dots were separated a little better and I had cleaner movement. I also changed how the camera moved in the software so I didn't have to move my head nearly as much to get the camera to move around. That is something you will just have to tamper with so its fit for you.
As for the hotkeys, in FSX I wasn't able to get them to work either. May have been a conflicting hotkey problem in the game and what I had set in TIR. DCS A10 had a setting for TIR hotkeys so that was the only time I got them to work.

Re: Optimal position and Hotkeys questions
Thanks for the reply, I will try moving around the proclip to find a better angle. Hopefully I can get around having to adjust sensitivity because I really like my pitch settings currently
Also, where are the settings in DCS A10C for TIR? only thing I found was the axis curve settings.

Re: Optimal position and Hotkeys questions
It is in the hotkeys, and not any of the axis settings. I thought it showed up towards the top of all the hotkeys. I'm not at my home computer at the moment so I can't verify, I'm sorry.
Try and filter the list to show the camera views. It is in there somewhere I just can't remember exactly where at the moment.

Re: Optimal position and Hotkeys questions
Hotkey issues in FSX can often be a result of conflicting permission levels in windows 7 or vista. My recommendation is to try starting both programs by right clicking on the icon and selecting "Run as administrator" instead of just double clicking on them. Even if your account is an "administrator" in 7, this can solve the issue because of the way the accounts structure works now.
