I had exactly the same problem and it drove me crazy until I figured out what to do. It appears the Trackir5 was conflicting with my USB mouse. I simply used a USB/PS2 adapter to plug my mouse in via the USB port and viola! it works perfectly. I've started playing some rise of flight with the tracki...
