TIR software hangs up on launch

I've got further developments to report for troubleshooting purposes... I did a full reinstall of my TIR 4 software today (regressed to the build 20 version because I don't like the way the build 21 tracks my movements) and it launched immediately with no problems. I then quit it and copied the vector expansion license information to the license folder and launched it again and it hung as before. Now when I remove the license info from the software it fires up immediately, but it hangs my system completely when the license is added back. Hopefully having this additional info will be of use in tracking down the bug.

For anyone with the fortitude to read this whole thread, I think I found the solution to the problem with Wayne's help. It seems that a third-party profile that I was using with TIR was causing the hangups on launch. When I removed the profile, suddenly everything worked great. I don't know if it got corrupted somehow or what, but although it worked fine for the first few uses, it stopped working after a while. Just thought you'd appreciate knowing what the solution was.

I have this same trouble with my TrackIr3Pro-Vector. It started fairly recently, but a few weeks after the 11/29/05 software release was installed.

Looking in the profiles folder I see all profiles are 2kb, except the once I use most (IL-2/PF), which is 718 kb. The content of that profile was filled with a repeating string that is missing from the others. The string repeats itself 13,823 times!

I opened the xml file in Microsoft FrontPage and deleted all repeats of that string, and now the file is back to being two kb and the TrackIR software loads normally.

On friday, the day before this problem became obvious, I sent my profile to a friend who had just gotten a TrackIR4. I asked him to check the file size and his was 42 kb, so the growing had started, but probably just before that, and then rapidly grew after that.

This problem continues. . I can manage it by regularly deleting all these extra lines in the profile, but it seems like this is an issue that should be dealt with. Anyone reading this over at NaturalPoint???

What version of our software are you using? I was told that this issue is resolved with version 4.1.028.

I'm using version 4.1 build 28

The profile was created in an earlier version though.
