FYI...

I reinstalled my copy of LockOn Flaming Cliffs v1.12a this weekend and this problem occurs about twice as often with it as it does with Aces High. Almost every time I would look away, the view would lock into the "lap" view.

When setting up the TrackIR unit, make sure that you are at least 2 feet away from the unit, and thet the 3 reflectors are centered on the tracking screen.

Well, I think I've solved the problem...

I remembered incorrectly that you said "at least 2 feet" as being "3 feet" so I moved my TIR unit and mounted it on the wall behind my monitor (the back of the CRT touches the wall) which makes it almost 4 feet from the reflectors. It works beautifully there. Much smoother and I have not gotten the "lap view snap" problem once since doing that.

So, 2 feet is probably too close and the recommendation should probably read "3 feet."

Vincient,
Wasn't trying to be hateful. Just reporting my finding after trying all sorts of things.

Thanks for all the help. Sorry I stirred up so much dust over this.

FYI

It appears I was just lucky.

I posted my "success" on the Aces High forum and one of the guys tried my trick of moving the unit out to four feet. It did not work for him.
