Tried that.
Status still says 'no device'.

Re the simconnect.dll issues mentioned elsewhere in this forum, I've noticed I have two directories in my:

c:windows/winsxs

which contain simconnect.dll files.
The problem is I can't delete these (even though I have full administrator rights).

Could these be the source of the problem?

Both folders have a version of simconnect, just a different "flavor".

If you have the deluxe edition of FSX. Try installing the SDK, then running the simconnect install.

One tip I have seen is installing any application, within Vista, in a seperate folder outside of the Program Files folder.

Tried reinstalling the SDK - made no difference.
Installer does not give option of a different installation directory.

Do you think I should do a full re-install of FSX? (groan . . . )

Something to try, I've had to do it myself, several times, on several systems.....

Woohoo! Completely uninstalled FSX.

Uninstalled TrackIR software/drivers.

Reboot.

Install TrackIR v4.1.030b software/drivers . . .

. . . and it works again!

That's a relief!

But does this mean I can't use my TrackIR with FSX?????

Nope, sometime FSX gets issues, so it needs a clean, refresh. Some of this should be resolved with a future SP2 update to FSX, and a update to the TrackIR software.
