Guys-
We are watching this thread, and working hard to find a solution. So far we've had no luck replicating it internally, but we're working directly with Microsoft to find a solution.

Sorry for the silence, we just have nothing much to offer you right now.

Would you guys mind giving us a list of the FS2002 plug-ins you're using? That might help us.

Ah customer support to the rescue! Good Shew!

I have MSFS2002 plus:
- Just Flight's World Airliners
- Wilcos Airport 2002
- PSS 747
- LAGOs F16

If you cant reproduce the behavior internally, Im sure I can test your fixes. Ive got years of experience as a flightsim beta tester and electrical engineer in the ECAD industry. Ill try any thing, short of reinstalling my FS software.

PS, im part of a F16 online squadron of over 300 pilots. I started a positive thread there about the TrackIR, many will be watching the progress of this situation.

The 3rd party modules I have are

ActiveCameraPro.dll
FSSound.dll (version 1.5.0.1)
FSUIPC.dll (2.9.7.4)

so not a lot. Let me know what I can do to help find the problems cause Im keen to get this working.

I have been working on this bug and I would like to have it fixed, if possible, in the next release. So, to make it easier to pin down, do any of you have profiles that you are loading (or having the software load at startup) ?

Also, regardless of whether you do or not, can take a look inside any profiles you may have (open them up in notepad) and post the MSFS location here?
(it will look lsomething like "drive:\path\TrackIR.dll", where drive and path may be correct OR incorrect)

Thanks

Im not quite sure what you mean by opening up profiles. If by that you mean files in the NaturalPoint folder with the ".TIR" extention, then I only have one: "New FB.tir":

120,15,15,0,0,1,1,0,0,60,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,7.000000,16.000000,22.000000,29.000000,22.000000,2.000000,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,3.000000,12.000000,23.000000,32. 000000,22.000000,0,0,1,1,2,50,3,50,1,1,1,1,1,0,1,1,0,0,91,92,123,120,0,119,118,91,92,88,67,0,66,65,C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\Modules\TrackIR.dll,0,English,New FB.tir,1,Custom Design,1,0,0,25,0,0,0,0,0,

Ok after reading this file, I hand edited this path to match that on my non-default installaion path to:
C:\Sims\FS2002\Modules\TrackIR.dll

What this has accomplished is that now the Registry value does not return to the default Program Files folder as before, even after starting and stopping MSFS and TrackIR. So this solves part of the problem. This must have been the mechanism the TrackIR software was using to reset the value in the Registry.

That being said, the TrackIR still does not work inside of MSFS2k2. So in my case, its not just the registry value causing the TrackIR to not work.

So my questions to you are:
1. Do I need a special profile or file (TIR or ECT) to make this work for MSFS? If so please point me to one.

2. If I dont need a special profile file, do I need to check anything to do with trackir.dll files? Im only aware of the one in the Natural Point and MSFS2k2/modules folders.

3. Why does the "trackIR Enhanced Games" window under the "Profiles" menu within the Natural Point software say this when I select the "MSFS 2002" game?

"Note: Support for Profile Auto-Loading is not currently available for MSFS 2002"

I just got this product and had a clean install of MSFS2002 and TP 2.01. When I went to the registry to look for that key value, it did not exist. The sub key did not even exist.

The trackIR.dll is installed in my MSFS's MODULE folder, but no reg entry exists for it. And as such does not work. I too get the "This does not support auto-load" message

I became aware of this IR Tracker today on TV and was impressed. But after reading the comments on this web site I am very concerned that I will not be able to install the program and have it work. Also I noticed the date of the last message was several months ago. Have the problems been fixed. Or has every one just given up?

Grover,

I have the latest v2.01FB and it works super for Falcon4 and IL2FB....

BUT

it still does not work for MSFS2002. Uninstalling the flightsim to make it work for TIR is too much to ask for being all I have are 3rd party legit addons. Being that TIR works for my other sims and not MSFS is a pretty good indication something is still not right with this latest build if the solution is to have the customer reinstall a working flightsim.

I guess Ill have to wait till MSFS2004 comes here (July 29th?) before I get the opportunity for a "clean" install for this TIR build. By the way, where did you get your MSFS2004 this early?

Im very unimpressed by the lack of customer support on these forums. New buyers should see for themselves by our cries for help and the lack of support we get here themselves.

I work for a very large software development company (2nd or 3rd to MS), if we were to expect our customer base to reinstall software as a solution, we would be laughed out of business.

With that being said, TIR when it works, is a marvelous piece of hardware and is a MUST for IL2-FB dogfighters. The days of finger view control are hopefully going to vanish.
